The weather in the Axarquia has been independently assessed as the best in the whole of Europe, according to the World Health Organisation.
Spring is short and quickly moves into a long summer of characteristically ‘dry heat’. Bronchial (chest) health and bone conditions like arthritis can benefit significantly from the type of weather typical in the Axarquia region of Andalucia. There are usually over 300 days of sunshine per year. The autumn is also long and relatively dry. The Mediterranean climate is of course partly created by the proximity of the Mediterranean sea but also the mountain ranges to the north. The Winter is relatively short and frost free, the average minimum temperature is around 10C and even in the winter highs of 20c are not unusual.
